Fresh Delicacies from Land and Sea are the Pride of Fukuoka
The town known as Fukuoka and Hakata is also popular as a gourmet town, thanks to fresh food available locally. The city’s fish markets handle about 140,000 tons of seafood, one of the largest volume handled in in Japan, including seafood coming from China and Korea. Fukuoka-brand products of agriculture, forestry and fishery are actively promoted and are well-known to people, such as Hakata Amao strawberries, Hakata rice, Fukuoka citizen rice, Hakata scallions, and Hakata tomatoes. Popular marine products include shiowakame seaweed and Ebisukaki oysters.
